The most precious relics of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to be displayed throughout the world in the biggest cathedrals and churches. All of these relics involve the journey of Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great, to Syria Palaestina in the fourth century to gather relics and restore the tomb of Christ.

She found the place where she was crucified and also his Tomb on which place built a magnificent church. All the relics gathered, including the nails of crucifixion and the True cross itself were brought in Constantinople - the world capital at that moment.

Interesting is the account of Saint John Chrysostom and St. Ambrose: The three crosses and the titulus and the nails were removed from the cistern where found. A woman, dying from a terminal disease, was brought to the spot. She touched the crosses, one by one. After she touched the third cross, she was cured, thereby identifying the true cross and the relics belonging to the crusifixion.  

These relics performed many miracles in Constantinople during the centuries which are well documented. Today all the relics and pieces of them are finding new homes in various churches around the world: Santa Croce in Rome, Venice, Aachen, Escurial, Nuremberg, Prague etc.
